Mary Anning
Mary's contribution to our understanding of prehistoric life has few rivals anywhere in the world. Yet she was uneducated and shunned by the male dominated science world of the time, especially Britain's most eminent scientist of the day, Prof. Sir Richard Owen; but then he "trashed" Darwin as well!!! The one exception was William Buckland, who also discovered the first dinosaur. Buckland encouraged and befriended Mary.
